What this site collects

This is a static site. There are no accounts, no comment forms and no newsletter. Nothing you do on a page is stored in your browser by this site: it sets no cookies of its own and writes nothing to local storage.

Server logs

The hosting provider that serves these pages keeps ordinary request logs, which typically include an IP address, a timestamp, the page requested and a browser identifier. Those logs belong to the host and are used to serve and secure the site.

Retailer links

Links to Amazon on the gear pages carry an affiliate tag. Following one takes you to Amazon, where Amazon’s own privacy policy and cookie practices apply, and Amazon may record that the visit came from here. That is the entire commercial mechanism of this site and it is described in full on the disclosure page.

Fonts and images

Typefaces are served from this site rather than fetched from a third party at page load. Photographs are served from the image host they were published on, which will see a request for the image file when a page containing one is opened.
